My website was not up when Google PR was updated last time in january but I launched my website at the start of February and was waiting for the next Google PR update. I think so Google is in the process of updating the Toolbar PR update and my website got to PR1. Though I was expecting it to be PR2 at least but still PR1 is better than PR0 for me. I did not invest in backlinks at all and I think I have only 4 or 5 dofollow backlinks. i am seeing increase in PR of a lot my inner pages as well and almost 10 of my website pages and posts are showing PR1.
PR is an old method of Google to determine the Page Rank but it does not matter a lot in today’s environment. I think as websites become old and more people link back to them, their PR starts to increase over time. But still advertisers look at your PR critically and give it importance like they used to give it in the past.
I started checking out other websites today in morning if their PR had increased too and the most shocking thing to me was the drop in PR of Problogger.net as I am a very keen follower of this blog. Problogger used to be PR7 but now it is showing PR6. I checked a couple of other websites, one of them came down to PR2 from PR3.
Blogengage.com used to be PR5 but it is showing PR4 in my toolbar at the moment and Dailyblogtips.com used to be PR6 which is now down to PR5. PR keeps varying as Google updates the PR and it will take a day or two to determine the final PR. So in case your PR has increased, keep your fingers crossed that it remains the way it is and if it has decreased then pray it goes back up at least if it does not increase. Let me know about your PR and congratulations if you see a rise in it.

Although PR update is done in intervals I think the real page rank of the page your ranking is calculated very frequently, few high quality but diverse links can help a lot in ranking well in search engines.
Yep mine dropped from 4 to 3, but it’s nothing to really worry about, it’s the traffic to the blog that really counts

can i ask something..I’m a new blogger, I started blogging last october 2010 and my blog had a pr 0 and my traffic was quite good..after google updated page rank my blog got pr 3 but my traffic went down.. is normal or what?

There can be multiple reasons of drop in traffic. How often do you update your blog and have you updated your blog since Google updated its PR?
I just checked the PR of my blog and saw it has gone from 3 to 2. I am not too worried as my blog had gone from 3 to 0 in the past, and my traffic wasn’t affected. I think besides marketing your blog for advertisers, I don’t see a real need to know the PR of a site as the PR doesn’t determine the amount of traffic a site receives.
You are absolutely right, PR has got nothing to do with traffic and what matters is your content. If it is good people will read your blog.
My free hosted blog gets PR2 from PR1. Also my alexa rank gets exciting up to 100K rank. Sound pretty good. Thanks to Google.

I got PR 4 from 0
Google’s working out again. Some of the sites went down 1 level down while some went 1 up. I even got mine to PR 1 lately..

I was very happy to see that my blog had got a PR3 on the update. I’m also seeing an increase in traffic because of it.
how do you people check page rank?
There is a plugin available for FireFox and Google Chrome. Plugin tells you the PageRank of every page. But the PR you is not updated PR. Toolbar PR is outdated but still you can get some idea. You can also go to some site like http://checkpagerank.net to check PR of any page.
It looks like Google has made a PR update today (6 feb 2012) and i just got an unexpected PR1 for my new directory.
My own website went down from PR4 to PR2 with the last update, and we have over 40,000 backlinks according to Webmaster tools, so this was a bit shocking, also with the drop in PR, our traffic dropped by 40%, so PR must mean something.
Mine went from 3 to 0. Not sure why I saw such a dramatic drop.
When will be the next PR update ?
