Facebook is the largest social media site and its admin is slow to respond to a lot of queries whether it is about the suspension of a fake account or suspension of a spam app. Twiends.com and Twimates.com are two websites that claim that they help in expanding and growing your social media network. I have always disagreed with their claim as the people who follow you on Twitter or “Like” your Facebook page through these websites know nothing about you and are not interested in your product or service at all.
I did an experiment and used their service for my “Test” Twitter account and Facebook page. I saw a considerable increase in my Twitter followers and Facebook fans but within days the numbers started to decline. These websites give free “Seeds” or “Grains” when you follow someone or visit a website or like a facebook page but that’s all why people follow you on Twitter or Like your Facebook page. When they have got their “Seeds” or”Grains,” they “unfollow” you on Twitter and “Unlike” your facebook page.
Twiends used to provide free website visitors in the beginning but Google had problems with it and Twiends had to suspend their website service and let other 3 services (Twitter, Facebook and Youtube) continue. Twimates, however, is still providing free website visitors and these visitors do nothing accept improving your Alexa ranking and increasing your bounce rate.
The bottom line is that there is no use of using these websites. I know that people like it when they have a lot of twitter followers and a lot of Facebook fans and it gives a sort of boost to their ego but they need to understand that those followers and fans are not targeted and give no benefit to them. They are not interested in your product or service and they know nothing about you. I will be satisfied with 100 genuine Twitter followers and 50 targeted Facebook fans rather than thousands of untargeted people in my social network. Facebook did well to suspend these services and I hope these do not return any time soon.

I agree with you my friend. With fake friends and followers you’re just fooling yourself. You may seem to have a large social proof but it means nothing. Like yourself, I hold that my Twitter following of 3500 is worth more than some celebrity’s 2 Million because mine is targeted.

I will miss using Twiends since I was using it for a Facebook Page that has a very hard time finding new likes (not my blog’s Facebook Page). I can’t say too much about it but it’s very interesting that rarely did anyone unlike the page.

I used Twiends too for experimental purpose but I knew all the time that it is spam. Even if people do not “Unlike” your page, they never or rarely visit your page because they don’t know at all what that page is all about. Twitter is not a proper marketing tool as yet in my opinion and I seldom use it. Thanks for stopping by
Why do you care? And yes, it does help. When your Facebook page has more fans it legitimizes the page for other poential fans. Since stopping using Twiends I have seen a considerable increase in the rate that people become fans of our Facebook page. These were great tools and I am sick of the huge corporations trying to shut down the little guys.
Why do I care? Well I do care when i see people spend their time and money to buy spam. Such spammers have no place in today’s social media savvy environment. The owner of Twimates put the site on Flippa for sale for $10,000 and people who are unaware of this development will lose more money. I guess blogging is all about keeping people up to date and sharing information. That’s why I care.
I stumbled upon twiends from a forum and i used it on a trial basis as well. My client was really pleased with the results though at the end of the day its not just about the number of followers you but rather its about the quality of your follows or likes. All you do is just flood your profile with a lot of useless tweets that you dont even follow.

Who cares for such sites? These sites are nothing but just a spam. Providing you fake followers and fans which have no use. Those who are using such websites to build their social network are just wasting these own time.
I can notice that the twiends is focused on twitter only. Twimates doesn’t wor properly/ There is another service http:/follow-engine.com which support Web Sites, Twitter, Facebook, VKontakte and the number of cervices will be increased.
I totally agree with you. The followers and likes you receive from these two services will be low quality. Always think quality and not quantity.

There is a new service called “fanslave” (www.fanslave.com). They mediate targeted facebook fans. These can be selected by country, language, age, gender and more.

I know tons of other websites that provide similar services but the point is, they are selling spam and sooner or later, they will be out of business too.
My experience with these sites was different from your own. I didn’t use either service for Twitter, however I gained several hundred Facebook Fans that are still around. Since many of them actively participate in discussions and other activities on the site I believe that they are interested in our products so I’d have to say my experience with these sites was positive.
We found that about 20% of those who “followed” us on Twiends dropped off after the first week or so using Twiends most conservative “add” tools.
We thought it was worthwhile to quickly add followers to a new Twitter account in order to establish some visibility and reputation, but outside of that it has little value.
You have completely missed the point…I’m tired of reading people’s posts on why the services don’t work when they do. Quit trying to use them for things they are not meant to do and you will not have a problem. They are meant to increase your status, credibility, ect…
Who wants to follow someone that has now followers or like someone’s page that has no fans. You need that initial bump to get the ball rolling, that’s what these sites are great at and meant for.
To convert to sales you are going to need to do that hardwork on your own and not count on these services to do it for you. Simple as that.
This is your point of view and you have every right to have one. My point is whatever you get in exchange of doing something is seldom beneficial. You need targeted people on your facebook page and on your twitter account to sell them something.
